I saw two movies recently starring Brie Larson – Captain Marvel and The Unicorn Store. Brie Larson plays a hero in both movies, though very different kinds of heroes.
In both movies, she finds her own strength, using the same kind of process we are learning through the Master Key Experience. Remember those four tiny habits that make a world of difference? DMP (definite major purpose), POA (plan of action), PMA (Positive Mental Attitude – closely related to the Mental Diet), MMA (Master Mind Alliance). Well, her characters certainly have those!
Spoiler alert: Stop now if you want to be surprised while you watch.

You might be more familiar with the Marvel Universe, so let’s start there. Carol Danvers becomes Captain Marvel, but it is a mystery as to how that comes to be; a mystery to be unraveled through the movie. As time goes on, she realizes that her DMP is to protect, help, and hopefully to end the wars.
The POA forms as she gathers her MMA (but is it Yon-Rogg (Jude Law) and the other Kree; or Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson), her pilot friend Maria; or that creepy shape-shifting alien? I guess I won’t spoil everything. But I will say that the cat (or Flerken) named Goose is on the side of good. And the plan of action changes a few times. Luckily Danvers has really good reflexes, is super strong, and very resilient.
But she doesn’t come into her true power until she works on her PMA, and really gets clear on her abilities. One of my favourite parts of the movie is when she is falling to earth from the sky, and just before she crashes, she stops struggling and totally relaxes. And in relaxing, finds that true power – and shoots back up to the sky to finish the job she started. (This is real “Hero’s Journey” stuff that will be more clear later on in the Master Key Experience course. If you want to explore that now, read my blog from last year.) Charles Haanel talks about the power of relaxation, and the Law of Relaxation is one of the Seven Laws of the Mind:
Mental effort defeats itself – exactly the opposite of physical effort. A relaxed, calm state of mind is the only doorway to progress mentally. Relaxation of thought is the only access to Infinite Intelligence. Seven Laws of the Mind, Master Key Experience

Now the Unicorn Store may not be as familiar to you, but you can find it on Netflix. I really enjoyed this one as well. Brie Larson plays Kit, a very different kind of hero. Not in the Marvel sense, but a hero nonetheless. She is quirky and endearing.
Her DMP has been to own a unicorn from the time she was a young child. Her parents kind of encouraged it, too. But of course she never got one. After she drops out of art school and hits a new low as a temp in an advertising company, she starts getting signals from the universe – signs she can’t ignore in the form of an invitation to The Store!
The Plan of Action comes in the form of instructions from The Salesman (another role by Samuel L Jackson). Kit must show that she is worthy of receiving a unicorn. This causes her to form her MMA consisting of a co-worker (Sabrina), a delivery guy, and a hardware store employee (Virgil). Unlikely alliances, but in the end, once Kit gets her PMA sorted out; things come together. Not as dramatic as Captain Marvel, but cute; and a nice message of keeping your inner child alive, BELIEVING in your dreams and in yourself! And MAGIC is REAL!
