I was listening recently to one of my favourite Camino Podcasts (I have a few), ‘My Camino – The Podcast’, with Dan Mullins. His guest said something that really struck me: “You’re on the Camino to learn to fall in love with yourself again.”
Well, that sounds like what was talked about on the last Master Key Experience webinar. Listen to the truth of your heart, think for yourself, and trust yourself. Focus on harmony, consider everything is a miracle. Be the non-judgemental observer, see wonder all around. Even Haanel encourages us to be in harmony:
The whole range then of the theory and practice of any system of metaphysics consists in knowing the Truth concerning yourself and the world in which you live; in knowing that in order to express harmony, you must think harmony; in order to express health you must think health; and in order to express abundance, you must think abundance; to do this you must reverse the evidence of the senses. Charles Haanel, The Master Key System 24:4
Love yourself and be true to yourself:
This above all: to thine own self be true. And it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man.” William Shakespeare, Hamlet
While walking the Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage, I think it is easier to be true to yourself, to be yourself. You don’t need to fill any roles other than that of pilgrim. You don’t need to impress anyone – Pilgrims are great at accepting everyone just as they are. So yes, be true to yourself. But is it a leap to say that you ‘fall in love with yourself’?
I don’t think so. The Camino is likely to bring out both the best and the worst in yourself. You see yourself overcoming immense obstacles, literally climbing mountains! You also are likely to encounter obstacles that challenge you and perhaps you do not overcome. But seeing yourself as you really are, appreciating what your body and mind can do, being kind and helping pilgrims, accepting the kindness and help of others, gracefully – all leads to loving yourself. If you are open to it, that is.
This is much like the Master Key Experience (MKE). You aren’t there as a nurse or a teacher or a salesperson. You are in the MKE as a student, an open vessel to learn and grow, to become a self-directed thinker. You overcome obstacles, encounter and deal with challenges, help others and receive help in return. And you are becoming true to yourself, listening to the truth of your heart, and even ‘Learning to fall in love with yourself again.’
So I challenge you to take the Hero’s Journey, go for it, live in harmony, share your gifts, affect the lives of others, and fall in love with yourself again!
Buen Camino!
Arlene, good for you for advising us to fall in love with ourselves again. From your blog rover friend John.
It’s been a pleasure getting to know you better via your weekly blog posts, Arlene, and since this year’s MKE virtual retreat will focus on harmony (imagine that), I’m looking forward to delving even deeper, because it’s my guess the odds are good we both will be attending. 🙂
Arlene, I have enjoyed very much reading your blogs. Thank you. Best to you and your family. I am looking forward to taking Greatest Salesman Part II again. From your blog rover friend John.
Thanks John, I am so pleased that you have enjoyed my rambling posts. I look forward to GS 2 as well!
Thank you Loren, yes, I will see you at the Live virtual retreat. Thanks for all the kind comments.
