So what is a Creative Explorer, and what does it have to do with pilgrimage, the Camino, or the Master Key Experience? Let me explain.
A couple of weeks ago in the Master Key Experience world, two lovely ladies (Lucinda and Lori) presented a series of webinars entitled “Finding your Purpose.” This is a series of three short and very interactive webinars where you really examine your strengths, your wants, your purpose. Through this process, you come up with a two word ‘handle’ for yourself. One of the participants, Jen D, called this the ‘theme for your life’ which I thought was brilliant.
I had done this activity two years ago, the first year I did the Master Key Experience. My two words: Compassionate Leader. That was pretty good. I do think of myself as compassionate, and at least some of the time as a leader. But it wasn’t quite right. I kept it anyway (just didn’t make the time to go through the exercise again).
explorer
Well, this year I did it again. On replay, as I was working when it was live. But replays are great. I did the exercises again, with an open mind. One benefit of being in the Master Key group over time, is that it becomes easier to open your mind, and listen to your heart.
Well, most of what I love to do seems to centre around travel, learning, reading, and personal development – I came up with ‘Explorer.’ That really resonated with me. I love to explore! I love traveling to new places and learning about the history and the culture, meeting the people. Just like on the Camino! I love reading and learning, for pleasure and for improvement – as in the Master Key Experience (bonus – more people to meet). And I also love to explore internally and learn about myself and what makes up Arlene! Exploring inside and out! So Explorer was my new word!!
But I needed another word!
creative
At first, I thought of ‘Peaceful’ because I am a ‘White’ in the Colour Code personality styles, and ‘Peace’ is my core motive. I thrive on peace, love order, and remain calm in the face of chaos. But Peaceful Explorer wasn’t quite right either. Back to the drawing board.
Then I thought of ‘Grateful’ because, after all, I am a Gratitude Queen, with my Gratitude Project sitting at Week 329 on Facebook (friend me on Facebook to learn about that). Gratitude is SO important! But Grateful Explorer didn’t seem right either.
I tried both of these phrases – Peaceful Explorer and Grateful Explorer – on like a new outfit, and tested them for a few days. Still not quite right.
Then I thought of ‘Creative’ and it really grew on me. At first I wasn’t sure, then I thought of so many things where it fit. Mark talks about how we are all creative, as we create our reality. We can do it consciously or by default. And ‘Recognition for Creative Expression’ is one of my PPNs (Personal Pivotal Needs). And I really love the idea of being a Creative Explorer, it goes together perfectly for me.
Arlene, the Creative Explorer
This is a great theme for my life. My goals include traveling the world, enjoying creative expression, and inspiring others. Here are some definitions I found on my computer, google definitions:
cre·a·tive – adjective – relating to or involving the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of an artistic work. “change unleashes people’s creative energy”
ex·plor·er – noun – a person who explores an unfamiliar area; an adventurer. “a polar explorer”
Arlene, you are the Creative Explorer. Good for you. From your blog rover friend John.
Why not polar, Arlene? We polar bears would love your company! 🙂
This is a beautiful blog.
Thanks so much for sharing your inner and outer explorations. All the Best.
Thanks Connie, that is sweet to say!
Thanks Loren, you are so right!
Thanks so much John
thank you Joseph, so nice of you to say.
If it’s one thing as polar bears love, Arlene, it’s being right! In fact, it keeps us warm at night! 🙂
