In this week’s lesson, Haanel has gone in a slightly different direction. He talks about health, and using the Master Key principles to aid in Being Well. This is a timely topic, with the world still affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Master key and being well
Just like anything else, our health is affected by our thoughts. Negative thoughts lead to poor health, and positive thoughts help us to attain good health:
If the state of our health is not all that could be desired, let us examine our method of thinking; let us remember that every thought produces an impression on the mind; every impression is a seed which will sink into the subconscious and form a tendency; the tendency will be to attract other similar thoughts and before we know it we shall have a crop which must be harvested.
If these thoughts contain disease germs, the harvest will be sickness, decay, weakness, and failure; the question is, what are we thinking, what are we creating, what is the harvest to be? 22:2-3
Haanel reminds us that the vibration of our thoughts affects the outcome – and that we can change the vibration and produce any condition we wish to manifest. The key is to do it consciously:
We are all using this power every minute. The trouble is most of us are using it unconsciously and thus producing undesirable results. The problem is to use it intelligently and produce only desirable results. This should not be difficult, because we all have had sufficient experience to know what produces pleasant vibration in the body, and we also know the causes which produce the unpleasant and disagreeable sensations. 22:7
Wallace wattles and the science of being well
In The Science of Being Well, Wallace Wattles gives us similar instructions. We must think and act in a Certain Way, he says.
A human being is a thinking substance, permeating a visible body, and the processes of his body are controlled by his thought. When a person thinks only thoughts of perfect health, the internal processes of his body will be those of perfect health. A person’s first step toward perfect health must be to form a conception of himself as perfectly healthy and as doing all things in the way and manner of a perfectly healthy person. Having formed this conception, he must relate himself to it in all his thoughts, and sever all thought relations with disease and weakness. If he does this, and thinks his thoughts of health with positive FAITH, a person will cause the Principle of Health within him to become constructively active, and to heal all his diseases. He can receive additional power from the universal Principle of Life by faith, and he can acquire faith by looking to this Principle of Life with reverent gratitude for the health it gives him. If a person will consciously accept the health which is being continually given to him by the Living Substance, and if he will be duly grateful for it, he will develop faith. A person cannot think only thoughts of perfect health unless he performs the voluntary functions of life in a perfectly healthy manner. These voluntary functions are eating, drinking, breathing, and sleeping. If a person thinks only thoughts of health, has faith in health, and eats, drinks, breathes, and sleeps in a perfectly healthy way, he must have perfect health. Health is the result of thinking and acting in a Certain Way. Wallace Wattles, the Science of Being Well.
Basically he is saying the same thing as Haanel. And while I don’t quite agree with the whole premise of Wattle’s suggestions for acting in a certain way, I do agree that it is important to both think and act in a healthy way.
COVid 19, the master key, and being well
As this global pandemic is hopefully easing its grip on the world, I would like to consider a few things.
Even from the beginning of the pandemic, I wondered how much of the Covid pandemic is related to fear. For those who fear getting sick so much that they spend most of their time thinking about disease – it is not a surprise that they get sick! Fear is perhaps more contagious than the virus itself.
As a nurse, a health professional, I do not believe it is wise to totally ignore the disease, but I believe that we can choose our perspective.
Instead of fear, I use the Master Key Principles, and choose Hope and Love, with appreciation for the Health that I have. I have Faith in science, vaccines, handwashing, and masking. I choose to raise my vibration. In doing so, and encouraging others to do so, I hope that we can help to heal the world. Remember that Mental Diet, keeping a Positive Mental Attitude. It is even more important now.

I drew this little doodle in April 2020. It is still relevant today. Maybe PEACE should be the focus now.
Love, Hope, Health Peace, Prosperity.
I agree that what we focus on grows and so there is value in being thankful for and supporting our health in all the ways we can. Thank you for your service as a nurse & health professional during this pandemic! We literally couldn’t have made it through without you and all the other front-line heroes! I like all your artwork but this doodle is especially wonderful–a colorful focus on the good things!
Thanks Laura Lee, I appreciate your comment. Stay healthy!
