Excerpt of an interview with Level 8 President Arlene Laskey on our latest edition of Think Big Elite-Talk (aired 2024):
Norbert Oberhauser, host of Think Big Elite-Talk: I have a very special guest with me now, from Canada, Arlene Laskey, who will share with us how she has done so much good in such a short time, which has been to the great benefit of her and her family, as well as such far-reaching benefits for many people. Arlene, how does it feel to be here today?
Arlene Laskey: I am thrilled Norbert, thanks for inviting me here.
Norbert: I know you recently opened your Child and Family Foundation school in Africa, can you tell us a little about that?
Arlene: Of course, I would love to. This was a real labour of love. As you know, once a marketer holds the rank of Level 8 President, a school is built in that president’s name, in an area where there is a real need for a school, usually a third world country. And not only is the school funded by Lyconet and my team, we were able to partner with Greenfinity to include solar panels, a community garden and fresh water that can be used by the whole village. In my case, because I am a retired public health nurse, it was important to me that we include an immunization program for the students and their families. Between the fresh water, the organic garden, and protection from disease, the health of the community is flourishing. It is such fulfilling work!
Norbert: I understand you have been working with charities at home as well?
Arlene: Yes, I work with numerous charities in Canada through financial sponsorship, plus I have a special place in my heart for the Big Sisters and Big Brothers organization, having been a volunteer many years ago. I get to work with the youth and their “bigs”, helping them to learn about and live in harmony with the Law of Attraction. Are you familiar with this?
Norbert: No, I can’t say that I am very familiar, please enlighten us.
Arlene: Well, I have always been a student of self improvement, and a few years ago I participated in a course called the Master Key Experience. Through that, I learned more about the Laws of the Mind and how to create my own reality, and the success I now enjoy. That is another project I like to contribute to both financially and as a mentor, as it was such a turning point in my life.
Norbert: Aha, that is what we are here to discuss – how you went from one of the few marketers in Canada to creating a Lyconet dynasty in Canada and around the world – amazing!
Arlene: Thanks Norbert, yes, it is amazing. You know, this course is based on teachings from over 100 years ago! Though I had heard about the Law of Attraction, I had not put it into practice consistently until taking the course. Through the course we learn about the Laws of the Mind, re-training your brain, becoming the architect of your reality, using the power of the subconscious mind, Universal Law and so much more. More than I can cover here.
Norbert: No problem, let’s talk about your success with your business. When did it start?
Arlene: After taking the course (and during even), I started to listen to those nudges from the Universe and take “inspired action”. When I got an urge to talk to a business owner, or happened to meet someone wanting to improve their finances, I went with it. The more I listened to the Universe, the more success came my way. A local group of us set up a wonderful and duplicatable system for training everyone and sharing the business – now we are all earning high six-figure incomes. And we are having a lot of fun together, too.
Norbert: Fun? What do you mean by that?
Arlene: We attend every event local, global and regional. Even though our team is huge, we make sure to include team events as part of the larger seminar, maybe include a side trip or retreat. Last Elite Seminar we rented a cruise ship and had a team cruise – now THAT was fun!
Norbert: I can imagine it would be. Tell me about your lifestyle and how it has changed.
Arlene: Sure. When I started with Lyconet I was a nurse. I always loved being a nurse – helping and educating people and promoting wellness. But I did not want to work forever! So when I learned about Cashback World, I was pretty impressed that I could get paid for what I had to do anyway – shopping for everyday expenses. Then I learned more about the company and could see the potential for long-term income, and the good that it could do for shoppers, merchants, and marketers. And I really loved that it was a “Community” – community is a core value for me. My finances were not where I wanted them, so I jumped in as a marketer to provide for my future. I love to travel, and even before success, we would go on vacation, but a bit smaller scale than now.
Norbert: What are your vacations like now?
Arlene: Well, now when we go on vacation, we like to go big (depending on the kind of vacation that is – when I walk a Camino I am still a pilgrim). Like the team cruise, that was big! But for instance, our last trip to Mexico – we flew first class, our transportation was a private limo, we stayed for 2 weeks in first class accommodations, included our children and a few other family members – so we ended up with a whole floor at the resort. And we were able to meet for dinners and excursions – it was wonderful! We do at least one or two major vacations each year, and then of course lots of travel to seminars and events.
Norbert: It sounds like family is very important to you.
Arlene: Yes, the MOST important! I have been with my husband for over 40 years, and remain very close with both my children. In fact, they help me a lot with the business. They know they will inherit it, you see (laughing). But seriously, I love to spend time with them whether at home, out doing something active, or traveling. My daughter is still my favourite Camino partner. And my daughter and I also do speaking engagements.
Norbert: Did you make any big changes in your lifestyle at home?
Arlene: Well, of course I drive a free luxury car now with the Lyconet logo on it, that is great and a real conversation starter, and my husband has one also. A Mercedes and an Audi, very fun to drive. And we now live in a luxury condo near the lakes and trail systems in Edmonton. I love it, especially being so close to nature! One thing I did when I first started to become successful: I had my kitchen renovated. We had a Cashback World merchant come in and make it totally beautiful and modern yet very functional, and still very comfortable and inviting. And now in our new home, my kitchen is even better! Oh, and I got a fancy new bicycle too so as well as walking and running I do ride my bike quite often.
Norbert: Oh, you are quite active then?
Arlene: Yes, health is SO important to me. Along with my business goals, I always set personal fitness goals, and consider myself to be in perfect health. I am proud to say I can still run marathons and half marathons, and I am almost 65 now.
Norbert: No, you can’t be! Will you have a party for that birthday?
Arlene: Aww, that’s so nice Norbert. Yes, I am planning a big hall party for all my family and friends from Lyconet, nursing, running, volunteering – it’s going to be huge! Will you join us?
Norbert: Ha, ha – maybe I should. I have never been to Canada. I know you had a few moments on stage at the last Elite Seminar, how did that feel?
Arlene: It was amazing! I was almost speechless! When I was introduced for my new rank as president I was overwhelmed as the crowd went wild and cheered me onto the stage – I felt such love! And then later when I made the speech and presented the cheque for the school I got another round of love – it was quite powerful! And with so much of the crowd being on my team, it was emotional; and I felt like a proud mama when my own leaders were also recognized!
Norbert: So what would you say is your best advice for someone starting out with Lyconet?
Arlene: Work on yourself first. Mindset is so important. I train my team not only in the basics of Cashback World and Lyconet, but about mindset and the Laws of the Mind. That has made a huge difference in the success of the whole team. Of course attend every event that you can. Do whatever it takes to develop confidence, power, desire. Make positive habits. Take inspired action. Be open to opportunity. Assert your claim and take possession of your success. Let your light shine! Make it more about how you can help the other person than about the immediate benefit for yourself.
Norbert: Thank you Arlene, I would say that you have certainly been a shining example! We all wish you continued success with Lyconet.
Arlene: Thank you so much Norbert, it has been a pleasure!
